The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has exceeded its 2011 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) goal by 20 percent. Employees throughout the Agency contributed $553,762 to the CFC campaign, which resulted in an $80,000 increase over the MDA's 2010 contributions.

LTG Patrick O'Reilly, MDA Director, attributed the MDA's success in giving to the CFC campaign to the unique and special workforce at MDA.

"Our workforce is made up of people who really want to make a difference," said LTG O'Reilly. "The types of people who are motivated to work here want to make not only their country better, but they want to make their communities better as well."

The CFC is an annual fundraising drive conducted by Federal employees in their workplace each year. The mission is to promote and support philanthropy through an employee focused program that provides Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. The CFC gives Federal employees the opportunity to contribute to more than 4,000 pre-screened charities.

President Kennedy initiated the formal national giving program for Federal workers in 1961. Since then, the CFC has evolved into the nation's leading workplace giving program.

This year was the 50th anniversary of the CFC, which has risen over $6.7 Billion since 1961.
